As the trolley travels through St. John's, your guide will point out several of the city's most important landmarks while sharing interesting stories about Antigua and Barbuda's history, culture, and people. Look out for the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in the historic colonial courthouse, and the impressive St. John's Anglican Cathedral, one of the most recognizable landmarks overlooking the capital. Continue past the Cenotaph and War Memorial, honoring the Antiguans and Barbudans who served and sacrificed during times of war. Pass the historic Antigua Prison, dating from 1735, and the Antigua Recreation Ground, one of the country's most celebrated sporting venues. Along the route, see Government House, the official residence of the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda and an important part of the nation's architectural, governmental, and political heritage. St. John's: Trolley Train Tour with Government House Entry

The Government House Experience — More Than a Tour... It's a Journey Through History!

Begin your journey just steps from your cruise ship, where you will be welcomed aboard the colorful 268 Trolley Train. Settle into your seat as your narrated journey begins along historic Long Street, one of the important streets running through the heart of St. John's. As the trolley travels through the capital, your guide will introduce you to the stories behind some of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Look out for the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in the historic former courthouse, before catching views of the magnificent St. John's Anglican Cathedral, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Crossing Independence Drive, discover the significance of Antigua and Barbuda's Cenotaph and War Memorial, honoring those who served and sacrificed during the World Wars. Continue to Heroes Park, where the story of modern Antigua and Barbuda comes to life. Here, see the tomb of Sir Vere Cornwall Bird Sr., Father of the Nation, and learn about the men and women recognized as National Heroes for their contributions to the development of Antigua and Barbuda. It is a meaningful stop that connects the island's colonial past with its journey toward self-government and independence. Reboard the trolley and continue along Factory Road before turning onto Coronation Road. Keep your camera ready. On one side you'll see the legendary Antigua Recreation Ground, a place deeply connected to Antigua's extraordinary cricketing heritage and some of the greatest moments in West Indies cricket. On the other stands Antigua's historic 1735 Prison, another striking reminder of the centuries of history contained within the streets of St. John's. The trolley turns onto Old Parham Road before entering the grounds of Government House. Here, you don't simply drive past history. You step inside it. Leave the trolley behind temporarily and enter one of Antigua and Barbuda's most historically significant properties for approximately 35 minutes of guided exploration. Guests will be divided into smaller groups, creating a more personal experience as knowledgeable guides lead you through the Government House museum and its historical displays. Discover stories, artifacts, and surroundings that help trace Antigua and Barbuda's journey through different periods of its history and development. After your Government House experience, rejoin the 268 Trolley Train for your comfortable journey back through St. John's to the cruise port. You'll return to your ship having seen Antigua from a different perspective — not simply its beautiful scenery, but the people, landmarks, and stories that helped shape the nation.
